Where it all began…
I started this business in 2013 when I was heavily pregnant with my first baby. I was 23,
just had my BAS Agent license approved and thought, I’m probably going to have a
few spare hours on my hands with a new born, why don’t I see if I can find some work
doing bookkeeping? Naive right? Only a person who has not had a child yet would think
that right? Well luckily for me, my new born came along and he was wonderful. I affectionately
refer to him as the kick back kid, because he was (and still is 7 years later) a dream baby.
I quickly picked up 2 clients and would do their books while my new born slept. It was ideal.
Along came some more clients over the next few years and another baby, who is
by all means the opposite of the first one!……
So I have told you about where it began, but I haven’t told you why I started. I love business. I
have always loved business. When I was little my Mum ran a small general store/post office and
my Dad ran his own interstate transport business. I remember my mum sitting at the kitchen
table after dinner with a green, leather bound ledger book, doing the books. There was no
computer based software back then. It was an old green ledger book. She used to fill it in with
grey lead pencil so if she made a mistake she could fix it. That’s my first memory of business.
As I got older and started working, I wanted to know every aspect of the businesses I was working
for. I worked in a few manufacturing businesses and would often end up out of the office and on the
factory floor annoying the boys to explain to me what they were doing or to teach me how to do it.
I could not sit ideally at a desk browsing the internet or twiddling my thumbs when I had finished all
work for the day, I had to find someone who needed help with something. This meant that I quickly
learnt the operational, logistical and financial aspects of business pretty quickly and my passion grew from there.
Over the last decade I have worked one on one with many business owners across multiple industries to get back
precious time, grow their business, improve their cash flow and give them peace of mind with a full done for you bookkeeping and chief financial officer service.
I am very passionate about bookkeeping, cash flow management and business in general. I find myself asking most
people what they do for work, I love hearing about people’s different jobs and employment history. When people tell
me they are about to go into business for themselves, I get a little excited inside and am always only a phone call
away offering tips and advice on how they can get started. I have been through all the highs and lows that
most business owners face and immerse myself in looking for ways to solve the most common problems business
owners face, time management, cash flow management and liability management.
My greatest pleasure in life, other than being a mum, is watching people succeed, especially small and medium
businesses. To me when a business is successful it means, employment opportunity, community engagement and a sense of purpose for those who work in the organisation.
Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. – Albert Schweitzer
